The history of the Marc O'Polo Company begins in Sweden, and soon achieves international success.
1967
Marc O'Polo was founded in Stockholm by the Swedes Rolf Lind and Göte Huss and American Jerry O'Sheets. The first advertising campaign, featuring a strawberry, is an international sensation.

1968
Marc O'Polo Germany was founded by Werner Böck under the name “Marc O'Polo Textilvertrieb Werner Böck GmbH”, headquartered in Stephanskirchen, Germany.
1972
Marc O'Polo ensures the brand “CAMPUS” and designs the CAMPUS Sweatshirt and the
Marc O'Polo T-Shirt, in cotton with high-profile logo.
1975
Marc O'Polo launches full-scale Womenswear and Menswear collections with Marc O‘Polo Modern Casual Menswear and Marc O‘Polo Modern Casual Womenswear, plus CAMPUS by Marc O‘Polo.
1979
The world’s first Marc O‘Polo Store (franchise store) opens in Düsseldorf.
1983
Marc O'Polo first presents two collections per season. Today, the company has 10 delivery periods.
1987
Werner Böck takes over 40% of the Swedish parent company.
1990
Marc O'Polo launches licensed shoes, eyewear and underwear lines.
1997
Werner Böck takes over a further near 40% of the Swedish parent company and founds “Marc O'Polo International GmbH”, responsible for design, production, purchasing, marketing and international sales. The company headquarters are relocated from Stockholm, Sweden to Stephanskirchen, Germany. The GmbH has maintained its own central warehouse from which all its European customers are supplied.
Marc O'Polo launches licensed accessory line.
1998
Marc O'Polo launches licensed Junior, Beachwear, Legwear, Silver & Gold and Fragrance lines.
2001
Marc O'Polo moves to newly constructed administrative premises in Stephanskirchen.
2003
Marc O'Polo’s largest store, over 900 sqm in area, opens in Munich’s Theatinerstrasse.
Launch of Marc O‘Polo E-Shop www.marc-o-polo.de.
2004
Alexander Gedat, Corporate Sales and Finance Officer, and Andreas Baumgärtner, Corporate Design/Production, Marketing and Licensing Officer, each take over 5% of Marc O‘Polo AG.
2005
The licence of shoes is reclaimed and the company designs, produces and markets its own shoe products by “Marc O'Polo Shoes GmbH”
2006
Marc O‘Polo opens new showrooms in London, Dublin and Hamburg to complement its list of international showrooms:
Germany (Stephanskirchen, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg), Switzerland (Zurich), Austria (Salzburg), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), Belgium (Antwerp), Sweden (Stockholm), Denmark (Copenhagen, Ry), Finland (Helsinki), Norway (Oslo), England (London), Ireland (Dublin), Greece (Athens), Spain (Barcelona) and Russia (Moscow). The first Marc O‘Polo watches appear in the stores.
Launch of Marc O‘Polo E-Shop in the Netherlands and Austria.
Launch of CAMPUS by Marc O‘Polo E-Shop www.campus72.de in Germany. CAMPUS by Marc O‘Polo becomes an independent Marc O‘Polo collection.
2007
Marc O‘Polo celebrates its 40th anniversary and designs the collection “since 67“ which supports the UNICEF project “Schools for Africa“. The mens’ tailoring line Marc O‘Polo Grey is launched.
The opening of the franchise store in Uppsala, Sweden, marks Marc O'Polo’s 1,000th store or shop-in-store worldwide. The Marc O‘Polo E-Shop is launched in England.
The first CAMPUS by Marc O‘Polo Store opens in Oberhausen, Germany.
2008
The first Marc O‘Polo Store in Asia opens in Singapore.
Jürgen Hahn is appointed to the Marc O‘Polo AG as Director of Board. He took over the responsibilty for Finances. Marc O‘Polo AG is composed of:

2009
Marc O'Polo wins the fashion industry’s ‘Oscar’, the 2009 Forum Award from trade journal TextilWirtschaft. The company was chosen for its outstanding entrepreneurial and personal performance which has had a sustained impact on the development of the fashion industry.
Marc O'Polo Accessories is awarded with the “International Award of ILM fair Offenbach for innovative design and convincing presentation.
2010
Launch of the new fragrance Marc O'Polo Signature.
2010 The trade magazine TextilWirtschaft awarded Marc O’Polo with the top brand certificate „Vertical Partnerships in Retail Women’s Clothing 2010“ and the „Premium Sports Women 2010 Award“, following the study „Vertical Partnerships in Retail Women’s Clothing“.
The internationally active Marc O’Polo headquarters in Stephanskirchen will be extended by a new logistics building with around 6,000 square metres, a new office building with 1,950 square metres as well as a multi-storey car park with 140 parking spaces.
