ORANGE FIBER

An innovative fibre, made in part from citrus juice production by-products from Sicily, replacing some of the virgin cellulose otherwise needed – find out how below. Crafted with Italian expertise and processed into a unique fabric that is exceptionally soft and gentle against the skin.

REFRESHINGLY FRUITFUL

The famous orange groves are found on the Italian island of Sicily, where sun-ripened fruit is harvested and turned into juice. After the oranges are pressed, the leftovers that would normally be discarded are collected. Because there's more to this fruit than you'd think: a fashion pleasure that lasts.

INNOVATION THAT BEARS FRUIT

About half of every pressed orange is normally left over as unused waste. Yet these seemingly worthless leftovers are surprisingly useful and are transformed into a valuable resource. This marks the start of the innovative process that is an essential part of making Orange Fiber: the cellulose contained in the peel and pulp is extracted and prepared for further processing.

FRESH FIBRES

The cellulose from orange peel and pulp is combined with virgin cellulose from certified or controlled wood sources*. This creates a fibre blend that does without some of the virgin cellulose otherwise needed. Using state-of-the-art technology, this cellulose blend is processed into fresh lyocell fibres. To turn these into a new fabric, the fibres are then spun into yarn.

*The wood used as a raw material for all TENCEL™ lyocell fibres comes from certified (FSC®- or PEFC certification**) or controlled wood sources. The lyocell fibres used are based on TENCEL™ fibre technology from Lenzing AG.
**FSC® (FSC-C041246) or PEFC (PEFC/06-33-92) certification.
