GOAL ACHIEVED: ONLY CERTIFIED COTTON

Our three founders already relied on the power of natural fibers back in 1967. 'We only use synthetic fibers when absolutely necessary.' Since then, cotton has been our most frequently used material (accounting for 73% of total material use in 2024). Cotton is a natural, breathable material characterized by its skin-friendliness and comfortable fit. With the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, we have achieved our goal and from now on we only use certified organic cotton or certified recycled cotton.

TWO WAYS TO THE GOAL

As an alternative to conventional cotton, we use cotton from certified organic farming. This is grown in crop rotation without genetically modified seeds, synthetic pesticides, or fertilizers, thus protecting the health of farm workers, soil quality, and the environment. We also use recycled cotton fibers from pre-consumer materials, i.e., material that is created during the production process of a product (e.g., cutting residues) and is reused before reaching the end consumer—this helps conserve natural resources.

INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED

The lower environmental impact of these two materials is underscored by internationally recognized standards. The Organic Content Standard (OCS) verifies the percentage of organically grown material and tracks it from source to the final product. The Global Organic Textile Standard further requires compliance with social and environmental criteria during further processing and sets strict requirements for ingredients and production methods. The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) verifies the percentage of recycled material and tracks it from source to the final product. A certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the seal on the care label. Learn more about our certifications and partnerships here.
