GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD (GOTS)
Products certified in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) must contain a high percentage of organically produced fibres. The GOTS also imposes strict requirements on the contents and production methods used and demands compliance with social and environmental criteria during processing. You can identify whether one of our products is GOTS-certified by the seal on the care label of the respective product.

ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD (OCS)
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) verifies that the fibres (e.g. cotton, linen, hemp, wool) are organically sourced and guarantees their traceability from the end product right back to its origins. An OCS-certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the OCS seal on the care label.
RECYCLED CLAIM STANDARD (RCS)
The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) is a standard used to verify the recycled content of a product throughout the whole supply chain. RCS-certified products contain recycled materials that have been independently verified at every step of the supply chain. An RCS-certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the RCS seal on the care label.
RESPONSIBLE DOWN STANDARD (RDS)
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certifies down and feathers by independent third parties with regard to animal welfare requirements and guarantees their traceability from the end product right back to their origins. The RDS guarantees the exclusion of live plucking and force feeding of animals. An RDS-certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the RDS seal on the care label.
RESPONSIBLE WOOL STANDARD (RWS)
Products certified in accordance with the Responsible Wool Standard contain sheep's wool from certified farms that respect animal welfare, environmental protection and the sustainable use of farmland. Independent third parties verify that RWS wool is contained in the product. An RWS-certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the RWS seal on the care label.
RESPONSIBLE MOHAIR STANDARD (RMS)
Products certified in accordance with the Responsible Mohair Standard contain mohair wool from certified farms that respect animal welfare, environmental protection and the sustainable use of farmland. Independent third parties verify that RMS wool is contained in the product. An RMS-certified Marc O'Polo product is identified by the RMS seal on the care label.
FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION
We joined the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) in 2020. The independent multi-stakeholder initiative has its headquarters in Amsterdam and works with clothing brands, factories, NGOs, trade unions and governments to improve the working conditions in textile factories. In 2023, we were rated "LEADER" in our first Brand Performance Check.
AMFORI BSCI
amfori BSCI is a leading business initiative to improve working conditions in global supply chains. The initiative stands for a globally standardised supply chain management system designed to review and improve working conditions and minimum requirements. Marc O'Polo has been a member of amfori BSCI since 2009.
CLIMATEPARTNER
ClimatePartner helps companies find solutions for climate protection and is accompanying us on our journey to climate neutrality. With this help, we have been calculating our CO₂ emissions since 2020 and are developing a climate protection strategy with reduction measures, and have already started to implement this. The remaining emissions are being offset by climate protection projects.
LEATHER WORKING GROUP (LWG)
The Marc O’Polo SE joined the Leather Working Group in 2020 to support more responsible leather manufacturing. The LWG is committed to driving improvement across the global leather supply chain, minimizing the environmental impact of leather production as well as inspiring, educating, and challenging its member companies.
TEXTILE EXCHANGE
Marc O'Polo has been a member of the non-profit organisation Textile Exchange since 2011 (with a 1 year break in 2019). The global organisation focuses on minimising the harmful effects of the textile industry through the development of standards and the use of sustainable materials.
THE GOOD CASHMERE STANDARD®
We are a partner of The Good Cashmere Standard® developed by the Aid by Trade Foundation. The Good Cashmere Standard® guarantees the welfare of cashmere goats, protects the natural resources and supports the local farmers who produce the cashmere.
ZDHC FOUNDATION
ZDHC is an association of international companies and organizations working together to eliminate hazardous chemicals in the textile and clothing industries. Marc O’Polo has been a ‘Friend of the ZDHC’ since 2022.
