Sustainability has always been part of the Marc O’Polo DNA. Since 2008, we have voluntarily reported all our sustainability-related activities in a regular sustainability report. For Marc O’Polo, sustainability is more than just a trend. It’s an attitude. For over 50 years. We have defined ten pathways in our sustainability strategy. Each pathway reflects one distinct area for which we have formulated relevant action steps and aims. In the product area, we have set the goal for our Marc O’Polo Casual and Marc O’Polo DENIM brands to offer only products that fulfil our high sustainability standards by 2023. In its collections, Marc O’Polo uses natural fibres from controlled organic farming. Many of our products with organically grown fibres are certified in accordance with the well-known textile standards Organic Content Standard (OCS) or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Furthermore, we offer products certified by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The sheep’s wool for our RWS products comes from certified sheep farms that uphold the standards of animal welfare and environmental protection as well as practice the responsible and sustainable cultivation of farmland. All certified products are labelled with the respective seal on their care label as well as on the product page in the Marc O’Polo online shop.
The Marc O’Polo philosophy and the resulting material strategy always play a key role in the selection of materials. Sustainability and naturalness are central components of our brand core. We use natural fibres from controlled organic farming. Many of our products with organically grown fibres are certified in accordance with one of the well-known textile standards Organic Content Standard (OCS) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). In our collections, we also use sheep’s wool from farms with Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certification. We do not use angora wool or real fur for animal welfare reasons. Down and feathers are reviewed by the independent institute IDFL. We only use leather from livestock animals (more information under FAQ 7). Marc O’Polo does not even consider the use of exotic leathers. As a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a lot of our products are made of leather that comes from LWG-certified tanneries (more information under FAQ 8).
We use sustainably regenerated cellulose fibres in the form of TENCEL™ lyocell and TENCEL™ modal as well as LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, among others. Instead of virgin polyester (new material), we are increasingly using recycled polyester fibres which are primarily obtained from recycled PET bottles. In our outerwear collections, we use polyester padding from Thermore®, which is made of at least 50% recycled PET bottles. Alongside the natural fibres we use for the most part, we use synthetic fibres which are as sustainable as possible. Marc O’Polo has its products produced both in the EU and in third countries, with the majority of our suppliers based in China, India and Turkey. The respective country of origin is labelled on the care label of the product. We have been working closely with most of our suppliers for many years.
An essential part of the Marc O’Polo sustainability strategy is the manufacture of our products under humane working conditions. Marc O’Polo has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since 2020. In the scope of an annual audit performed by the foundation – known as the Brand Performance Check – the purchasing practices of Marc O’Polo as well as other aspects of the company are evaluated and published. Marc O’Polo has also been a member of amfori – trade with purpose since 2009. As a part of this, binding social standards were defined. To monitor compliance with the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct and to develop possible improvements with suppliers in the scope of FWF membership, audits are conducted in the factories producing the products (primarily in high-risk countries). Furthermore, the FWF offers training programmes in the factories and a complaints mechanism for the workers.
Marc O’Polo started working with organic cotton as early as 2006 and established it as an essential material in its collections. The cotton used comes from controlled organic farming. For better quality soil. For the health of employees. Cultivated in crop rotation without genetically modified seeds, synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Many of our products with organic cotton are already certified in accordance with the well-known textile standards Organic Content Standard (OCS) or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The respective seal on the care label as well as on our product page indicates whether a product is OCS- or GOTS-certified.
Marc O’Polo gets the independent institute IDFL (International Down & Feather Laboratory and Institute) to review the origin of the down and feathers used for its products in the scope of a supply chain traceability audit. With this initiative, we want to rule out the possibility that the animals used for our products are force-fed or that the down is plucked from the animals when still alive. Marc O’Polo down products labelled on the hangtag accordingly come from a supply chain which has been audited by the International Down & Feather Laboratory and Institute.
Marc O’Polo is a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG). The LWG exercises the strictest standards and is the most widely accredited organisation within the leather-manufacturing industry. Every Marc O’Polo product which is made of leather from a LWG-certified tannery is labelled accordingly on the label and on the product page in the online shop. Most of the leather we use is already sourced from LWG-certified tanneries today.
Marc O’Polo has refrained from real fur since 2005 and only uses faux fur made of synthetic fibres. To promote our stance on this subject, we at Marc O’Polo have made a binding commitment to renounce the use of fur by entering into the FUR FREE Alliance.
Our commitment to sustainability also includes the welfare of the animals. Marc O’Polo refrains from the use of angora wool.
The responsible use of chemicals is an important component of our product responsibility strategy. For this reason, Marc O’Polo use cupro fibres that are produced in closed-loop systems. The chemicals used in the production process of the fibre are extracted and reused, meaning they cannot escape into the environment.
Marc O’Polo is based on the idea of using materials from nature. As such, we can look back on 50 years of experience with natural materials. This tradition defines our brand culture and influences our material selection to this very day, so that we currently do not offer any products labelled as vegan. In our accessories range, we offer products such as bags and belts made of vegetable-tanned leather. We are open to material innovations. We follow all relevant development and assess them based on quality, sustainability and compatibility with our philosophy.
Marc O’Polo is making increasing use of certified paper and cardboard as well as recycled foils as packaging material. Furthermore, we are currently reviewing different solutions for this. One big challenge in this regard is the consideration of different requirements across the full supply chain as well as the protection of the product during transport.
Marc O’Polo pursues the goal of avoiding air transport to a large extent. The proportion of sea freight already greatly outweighs the proportion of air freight, which is currently only used in exceptional cases. By avoiding air freight, we are able to further reduce our emissions.

Marc O’Polo designates clothing products from the brands Casual and DENIM as “sustainable” when the primary fibres (outer fabric, filling, lining) are made of at least 80% sustainable material. For shoe products, this is the case when at least one of the three main components (upper, lining or outer sole) is made of at least 80% sustainable materials, and for accessories when at least the main material is made of at least 80% sustainable materials. Our DfC products are marked in the online shop and are flagged with "DESIGNED FOR CIRCULARITY. You can also find all DfC items in our category.
The development of DfC products already takes place in accordance with the Circular Design Criteria, which are developed by our partner circular.fashion, a leading transformation agency for circular textiles in Europe. This agency ultimately also checks compliance with the criteria, which are designed, among other things, for the durability of the clothing and compatibility with the processes in sorting and recycling plants. The composition of the main material but also the processing as well as trims and prints are taken into account here.
With the creation of DfC products, we have taken a first important step towards circular action. In order to be able to close the loop in the future, further measures, including take-back systems, are necessary. We have high expectations of the implementation of a takeback, so we are currently in the process of determining when and how a system can best be implemented.

At Marc O’Polo, we place a lot of emphasis on quality. However, in rare cases, an article might fail to meet our stringent standards. Should this apply in the case of one of the articles you have received, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience. Naturally, you can return such an item free of charge within two years. As soon as your return has been received by our Customer Service, we will refund the full amount to your bank account. If you did not include your banking details (IBAN, Bic, Credit Institution and Name) with the returned goods, you can simply send them to us via email.
Unfortunately, due to technical reasons, the exchange of goods from the Marc O’Polo online shop is not possible in local retail stores.

Generally, a return can take up to 15 work days to process. As soon as we have received the return, you will be informed via email. Please note that returned orders take up to 21 business days for the funds to credit back to your original payment method as the below steps need to be followed:

Canceled Orders
For orders made by credit card, we only charge when the order ships to you.
If you see a charge on your credit card for a canceled order, it is likely to be only a pre-authorization and not a payment. This will be automatically canceled by your payment provider.

Normally, your order should be delivered to the address you have given within 10 work days. If you are still waiting for your package 15 work days after confirmation of your order, please first check the following:
The delivery status, using the tracking number that was sent to you via email.
Whether the address you gave was correct.
Whether a neighbor has accepted the package on your behalf.
Whether the package is waiting for you at your nearest post office.
If you have done all of the above, and still don't know where your parcel is, please contact our Customer Service.
If the order has not shipped
If your order has not yet shipped, then we should be able to update your address, so long as the delivery country remains the same. We cannot change the delivery country. Please contact us urgently via our customer service to change your delivery address.
If the order has shipped
Airmail: We cannot intercept airmail packages. If the package is undelivered, it will eventually be returned to us. Please note this is likely to take some time (maybe several weeks). A refund will be issued when we receive the package back at our warehouse.
Courier: Depending on the status of the delivery and the courier, we may be able to update the address. We cannot change the delivery country. Please contact us urgently via our customer service if you need to change your delivery address.

If you cannot see your country listed, then it is likely that we do not currently ship there.
It can take between 1-4 business days (not including weekends and national holidays) for us to prepare a package for international delivery. Once your order ships, you will be sent an auto-email containing tracking information.
If there has been no update on the tracking information for more than 5 business days, please let us know so that we can open an investigation. The investigation to locate a package may take several weeks. If for any reason it is determined the parcel is lost in transit you will be issued a full refund.

Import duties and taxes may apply upon receipt of international orders. These duties & taxes are beyond our control as they are set by the Customs Authority of the destination country and depend on a number of factors, such as:
1. Country of origin of the purchased product
2. Local VAT rates
3. Local import taxes
It will be your responsibility to pay these charges if and when asked to by your local authorities. Our guaranteed landed cost shipping service allows you to prepay all taxes and there will be no additional charges when you receive your package – guaranteed! All you need to do is prepay the duties at our checkout. If prepayment is supported for your order, then you will be quoted as follows:
“Prepay xxxx for duties, taxes and fees now to guarantee no additional charges on delivery”

Courier Deliveries:
Standard couriers can take up to 48 hours to generate information to their tracking website and updates are not continuous. If there has been no update on the tracking information for more than 5 business days, please let us know so that we can open an investigation with the shipper
Airmail Deliveries:
Packages shipped via tracked mail (as opposed to an express courier services) do not provide continuously updated tracking information – the information may only be updated as the package ships and once it arrives in your country. When the package arrives in your country, it will be passed on to an internal postal service. There is no guaranteed delivery date for orders sent via postal services. Delivery dates quoted at checkout are an estimation only. If your order has not arrived by the expected date, we kindly request that you wait for another 10-14 business days, to allow for any customs inspections or possible postal delays in your area. Should the order still not arrive by this time, please contact us so that we can open an investigation with our shipping partner. The investigation to locate an airmail package may take up to two weeks.
If for any reason it is determined the parcel is lost in transit you will be issued a full refund.
If the tracking indicates that this has been delivered, we kindly request that you check with a member of your household or a neighbor, as perhaps one of them collected or signed for the package.

Has the voucher code been entered in the correct field? There are 2 fields. One for gift cards (12-digit and only available for purchase), one for voucher codes.
Are the voucher conditions from the asterisk text fulfilled? Please check the minimum order value and all other conditions.
Have you logged in with the correct customer account? Vouchers may be linked to a specific email address.
Has the minimum amount in the shopping basket of 29,90€ been reached? If not, an order cannot be sent.
Has the voucher already been used once? Some vouchers can only be used once.
Has another voucher already been used? Vouchers cannot be combined with each other.
ATTENTION: If the voucher still does not work after fulfilling the above points, log out and log back in and enter the code again.
There are various reasons why an order may have been canceled such as:
- Out of Stock
- Unverified information
- Payment decline
- Tech issues
- Incorrect address
If your order was canceled, you should receive an email notification detailing the reason.
Sometimes an order does not process – this could be due to two possible reasons:
- The time lapse between ordering the item and confirming payment
- The item changed to out of stock during the ordering process
To prevent this from happening again, we kindly request that once the item is selected you proceed to payment confirmation as soon as you can.
Credit Card Payments
We only charge your credit card upon dispatch of your order, so if your order has been canceled, you will not be charged.
If you see a charge then it is a pre-authorization only, which will be automatically canceled by your payment provider.
PayPal Payments
Payments made via PayPal are immediate, so if an order was canceled, a refund will have been issued.
